Fanny Hensel – A Composer for Eternity
220 years ago today, on November 14, 1805, Fanny Hensel (née Mendelssohn) was born in Hamburg.
As an outstanding pianist, conductor, and composer, she shaped the musical life of the 19th century—leaving behind over 450 works, including songs, piano pieces, chamber music, and large-scale cantatas.
In her legendary “Sonntagsmusiken” (Sunday Musics) in Berlin, she conducted the choir and orchestra, performed her own compositions, and created a unique space for musical encounter.
Many of her works are now published at Furore Verlag, ensuring that Fanny Hensel’s music continues to resonate and inspire new generations.
